Message From the President:
Welcome to the Dakar Women’s Group. We are a dynamic group of 200+ members from 55 different countries. We have come together to make friends, have fun, discover Senegal and its people, and above all, to give to charity.
We help newcomers adapt and integrate to the “Dakareuse” lifestyle and we meet at least once a month through our monthly meetings, visits, activities, and special events.
The monthly meetings vary, but usually include a Bazaar, Christmas Potluck, Fashion Show, Jewelry Exposition, Champagne Brunch, and luncheons. And our special events include The Welcome Dinner, Family BBQ, Festival of Tastes, Art Show, Spring Dance, and Kids for Kids Day.
We offer over 20 weekly activities anywhere from golf to beading, conversation groups to weight watchers.
We send weekly emails and a monthly newsletter to give you the latest and keep us all connected. We make available a list of household help recommended by our members who have left.
We also have the only comprehensive English Guidebook with information on where to find just about anything in Dakar.
This year we will add a monthly dinner to provide working members a chance to stay further connected with DWG.
In other words, there’s something for everyone! Above all, we value friendship, helping each other, and with such diverse backgrounds, we learn from one another.
Membership is open to all women!
New members are encouraged to volunteer, or help in some way. Depending on your availability, skills, and interests, you may wish to be part of the DWG Board, or help organize one of our special events, coordinate a class, or simply bring yourself (and your favorite food) to our potluck parties!
